Splitting Inbox from Overview
The old screen tried to be both. Show me everything happening on the team (Overview) and show me what needs me right now (Inbox). It was the wrong abstraction.
Overview has high cardinality and low urgency. You want to scan it once a day. Inbox has low cardinality and high urgency. You want to clear it every time you open the app.
Putting them on one screen meant the Inbox items disappeared into the Overview noise. The fix was to split them.
Conversion to "task acted on" went from 31% to 68% in the two weeks after we shipped. That's the metric we should have built around in the first place.
